CampHarit
Activity based fun at a river side organic herb farm near Mumbai. Enjoy nature, tribal art, farm activities, games etc. while you learn about herbs and organic farming. A mere 2 hours drive from Mumbai, alongside a little river, close to forests and hills, you are on a unique Farm.
No ordinary Farm this is. It is an organic farm housing over 150 kind of herbs and shrubs, most of which are of great importance for health and medicine. The Farm has been certified as Organic under American, European and Indian standards.
At CampHarit - you don't just go on a nature walk or trek but actually learn while you enjoy. Rescuing distressed reptiles, birds and animals at or around CampHarit is one of our common activities.
Experience working on a farm, sowing, tilling, plucking and so much more, getting your hands and feet soiled, interacting with local communities, understanding and exploring their vanishing lifestyles and traditions. The concept is, quite simply, exciting and unique. |
 | School & Children’s Camps Open for School groups and for children’s groups through housing societies, clubs, NGOs and other associations.
A fun-telligent learning experience, educational yet full of fun and field experience. Children get to participate in a range of farm-related activities and can have the option of having the various exercises incorporated as part of their education sessions. These include visits to tribal villages, understanding the dying traditional wisdom of arts, crafts and agriculture, interacting with village children in nearby hamlets and schools.
On the farm we have adequate and appropriate, child-friendly farm implements for use by children. All children wear proper gumboots while working/walking on the farm. For these camps we have more than the usual number of experienced volunteers, for we understand working with children requires an altogether different level of understanding. A choice of day and over-night programmes.

 | Nature Camps The basic facilities at CampHarit can be made use of (upon prior intimation) by groups from NGOs, nature organizations for day and overnight nature camps. While the farm itself is an interesting study of openland and scrubland biodiversity, and it is at its most exciting during and immediately after the rains, even otherwise, CampHarit is surrounded by some splendid wilderness, including the Suriamal forests and the trek to Kohoj. The camp-site can be a comfortable base for exploring these sites at all times of the year.

 | Festival celebrations CampHarit follows the philosophy of good environmental understanding and care. Festivals of India have no equal. Nearly every one of them evolved with nature as the underlying theme. Sadly, in our very generation, every festival has degenerated into a sordid affair rank with crass commercialization and total disregard for environment.
At CampHarit, we offer the option of celebrating festivals such as Holi, Deepavali, Navrati…. in the spirit of eco-logic and which will help usher in a change in our mind-set towards celebrating our festivals.

 | Camp Charges The standard charges for camps are Rs. 750 per person per day. Children below 5 years are charged 50%. These charges include lodging, boarding and activities.
The Camp activities start at 9 am and end at 5 pm. For overnight camps there is one optional night activity.
For large groups of 10 and above there could be special rates. Please call us.
For transportation there are two choices:
1. You can join us at CampHarit directly
2. You can board a CampHarit vehicle at Malad (E) office on WE Highway.
The actual cost of operating the vehicle will be distributed over those travelling by it. You will need to pay a deposit of Rs. 250 per day which will be adjusted against the actual cost of transport.
